This charming little village is a paradise for
photographers and fans of History. Come and stroll along its small streets, discover its wood-panelled houses,
enjoy its gastronomy and " art-de-vivre".
The church steeple suddenly appears like a lighthouse guarding the surrounding houses... and the charming
Sarlat bishops' castle - "Evescat" dating back to the 17th century... Issigeac is a delightful
small Perigord round-shaped town, nestling behind its 13th-century ramparts.

Issigeac, a medieval city, an abbey,
and bishops...
Despite some new buildings created during the 18th century, Issigeac still appears as a medieval city. Narrow streets, alleys,
houses, and shops make the past relive: you can hear musicians and minstrels on the square, and the main street becomes multicolored
from watermen, hawkers, and mountebanks joining the busy crowd.
Issigeac, "the beautiful summer city" offers you quality events: night markets, "L.P. records days",
antiques fair, basket fair (second in France!), etc. The Saint Félicien church is also a wonderful place for concerts of classical music. |

Issigeac, a preserved countryside.
The countryside surrounding Issigeac vouches for the city's exceptional past, but Issigeac is also a modern town
offering you its Sunday market, (Perigord terroir products will convince those of you who are not yet). Issigeac
is also a rural area: many hiking paths will lead you to discover its very preserved countryside: lovely churches and their peculiar
and typical "Clochers-Murs" (clock towers), chateaus, chartreuse manors, remarkable farms and barns,
vineyards, lakes and ponds, deep forests, etc. © Alain Bordes |
