The Dordogne was rather shared in two during the 100-year War: the feudal castle of Castelnaud was protestant and supported the King of England, whereas the feudal fortress of Beynac facing Castelnaud, was catholic and supported the King of France. Jean de Bessou, rich owner of Lacoste, supported the King of England and had married Françoise, the daughter of the rich de Maleville family. He has carried out considerable transformation works in Lacoste; by the way the chateau has been constantly modified until the Revolution, when it was confiscated and became a "national property". The Bessou were exiled and never could get Lacoste back; the chateau was then purchased by Guillaume Sarlat, a nephew of Miss de Maleville, and the mayor of Castelnaud, who never gave it back despite all trials made by his cousin. Guillaume's descendants finally sold it to its present owners... In the 19th century, the great-grand mother of the owner carried out huge improvement works; Lacoste and its gardens have not changed since then.

You are here in the heart of the "Perigord golden triangle", i.e. the major sites (Beynac and its splendid feudal fortress , Fayrac, Les Milandes, Puymartin, etc.) to be visited, and of course the numerous and varied leisure activities offered by the region: gabarre cruises (traditional Perigordian flat-bottomed boats) on the Dordogne, hot-air-ballooning, kayaking, etc.

Lacoste can accomodate up to 20 persons and offers:
- a 8-hectare park, beautifully planted with trees and flowers, and offering many wonderful hiking paths, and a stunning panorama onto the valley of the Dordogne river;
- the private use of all of the chateau and chapel
- one big lounge and a music room
- a 60-sqm vaulted dining-room to host up to 20
- an exceptional 100-sqm kitchen (induction cooker, wok, eletric oven, micro-wave, American fridge, deep-freezer, numerous cupboards etc.)
- 1 laundry room with two washing machine and a tumble dryer
- 8 bedrooms at first floor
- 7 en-suite bathrooms
- 3 bedrooms for your kids (2nd floor, 1 bathroom with shower)
- All bedrooms but 2 are fitted with double beds, but we can tailor them to your needs
- big 8x12x 2.50 pool (hypoallergenic copper-silver filtration system) offering a stunning panorama,

WEDDINGS

In the lower season, you may rent Lacoste for your wedding (max. 200 persons). You remain responsible for the choice of the caterer, and for renting tables and chairs. According to availabilities, renting the chateau's bedrooms is optional (additional cost).

SEMINARS
Seminars -of varied durations- can be organized all the year round, outside the higher season. The chateau is put at your disposal and one lounge is turned into a seminar's room.
