Castles feudal chateaux Perigord Dordogne
| |
Crossed by numerous rivers, shaped by many wooded hills and valleys and cultivated herbaceous, Perigord Vert contains a wide variety of castles, Romanesque churches, mills ... and hides many treasures, which include the Castle Laxion.
The castle is situated between Corgnac and Thiviers on the Isle (30 km north of Périgueux and Hautefort. The South Tower was probably built in 1575 by the Chapt Rastignac family. The rest of the existing building, including the 3 other towers at the corners, was certainly built much later.

This gem of the Périgourdine Renaissance is currently being reborn from its ashes. Indeed, despite the dreams of greatness of his previous owners, the castle of Laxion was long neglected, and slowly awakes from a deep sleep through the dedication and courage of its current owners Gaelle and Francis DUMY ...
Indeed, for nearly five years, they have been fighting to try to come into possession of this castle which was gradually decaying with the years due to general indifference.
Clearing rubble, and preserving what remains standing was the initial target... The DUMY lack no courage or ideas: Gaelle and François quickly formed a volunteer chain around them to help in this sweet dream: reclaiming the Castle Laxion the place it deserves.
An association has been created to safeguard this site, anyone with knowledge or curiosity, imagination and memories, is welcome to help in this extensive restoration project. An association offers help to organize medieval events ...
With such a mobilization, Laxion can open to the public and offer many activities. |
