uymartin, built around 1270 and formerly surrounded by a village of the same name, served as a border between France and England when the Hundred Year War began. It was then looted, deprived of its crenelations, ramparts, towers, and roofing.

ecaptured in 1450 by Radulphe de Saint-Clar, it was rebuilt and enlarged. Due to all the wars fought in the region, it was only at the end of the 18th century that Puymartin recovered a certain serenity.
