~ Cloister of Cadouin ~ Classified a Historical Monument ~ ~ |
|
With its 4 galleries and 26 rows of Gothic diagonal ribs, its remarkable clerestory openings, its doors and sculptures, the cloister of Cadouin really is a masterpiece
of Gothic art (15th and 16th centuries).
The abbey church is rather austere and thus perfectly reflects the Cistercian 12th century spirituality. The Museum evokes 8-centuries of pilgrimage and religious fervour linked with a relic that has long been considered as the Holy Shroud to have enveloped the head of the Christ. |
Open every day in the high season. Open every day but Tuesdays in the lower season. Accessible to disabled persons. |
